Hi Sober Tribe
It’s sober day 349 for me.
Going strong to one year and definitely going on from here.
Over the last 11+ months, I’ve had many valuable lessons: how to accept my addiction and how to think (a lot) about alcohol and its consequences.
Over time, sober has gradually become my new normal.
I don’t miss wine, I don’t miss beer and I don’t miss whiskey (but sometimes I still long for an Aperol Spritz, a cocktail I didn’t even use to drink that often).
The last months have been for more than simply getting sober, it’s been a journey, taking time to reflect about my priorities, what brings me joy and stuff I need to face (instead of washing shitty days away with drinks).
I left alcohol, resigned from my 21 years corporate job. I had to learn to better listen to people – without alcohol it’s harder for me to sit for hours after dinner, but instead of talking a lot, I’m now (a little bit more) able to actively listen to others.
Getting sober is a bumpy road, but the journey with all of you on the sober bus has changed my life for good.
All the best!
Kai
